I am a HUGE chicken when it comes to dentistry of any kind. I was absolutely terrified when I found out that I had to get a root canal. My referring dentist gave me two endodontist referrals. When I called the first one, the lady on the other end of the phone made a disparagingcomment when I mentioned that I was really nervous about having this done. She acted like I was the first person to ever express apprehension at getting a root canal. I did not book the appointment with them. I called Central Ohio Endodontists and encountered a completely different attitude. The lady on the phone was so understanding and reassuring. She explained that this was their business, they were very good at what they did,and all but promised me that I would have a good experience! I made the appointment. I would never have dreamed that I would have had such a completely comfortable, totally pain-free experience. The dental hygienist (I wish I would have gotten her name) talked to me a lot before the endodontist came in, putting me completely at ease. She was personable and professional. By the time the physician came in, I was already feeling a lot better about this because of her! The endodontist, Dr. Smith, assured me that he would not be doing a thing until he was absolutely positive that I would not feel a thing. He said he was not in the business of causing people pain :-) He chattered calmly throughout the procedure and told me what was going on at every step. He toldme things like, "Okay, you're doing great, we're 25% done." The dental hygienist told me how great I was doing; they made me feel like I was actually doing something! Oddly enough, I had to returnwithin two weeksfor an emergency root canal. I experienced the exact same treatment from the dental hygienist and endodontist as I had the previously! Also, this practice makes booking an appointment very easy. They were able to schedule my appointments (both times) with less than 24 hours notice. And, it was because of the attitude of lady who answers their phone/books appointments that I made the appointment in the first place. This is a very good team!
I needed to get a root canal.
