I've used Capps a few times. Unimpressed with Joe (owner). Had a guy out one time, didn't even have the right size key to shut off my water main. Had to call the village to do it for me. Had a new water main valve installed and had to call them back as it was leaking. Watch out for their warranties... They say one thing, but when the time comes to have warranty work - they'll make you cal back several times then Joe will explain how the warranty means something completely different. Get a detailed statement of warranty... read more

So I get a written response from the company, two and a half years after my original review. It reminded me to update my original review. Guess what? The cast iron pipe still isn't leaking, after new solder joints were installed. And there hasn't been any leaking from the copper pipe, after the valve was tightened. Nothing has had been replaced, as Capps recommended and proposed to do. It's still the same cast iron, the same copper pipe. Two and a half years later. No leaks. If you have a plumbing emergency, please choo... read more

The company wrote a response asking me to call them back so they can take care of it. Why would I ever call back when I already spoke to the OWNER of the company who proceeded to yell at me and call me a liar? If the company wants to take care of the situation, then it should refund me the cost of the pit cover that I never should have been charged me for in the first place. It will save me the time of disputing the charge with my credit card company and contacting the better business bureau.

My water heater stopped working, Capps sent someone to check it and found that the flame was out but could be ignited to bring the water heater back to operate. A suggestion was made to replace the thermocouple. I agreed, however, the charge was raised a couple of times that reached $500. I will never use this company again.

Woke up on a Saturday with no hot water. Pilot light was out and wouldn't seem to relight. Bought the house a couple of years ago and there was a Capps sticker on the water heater, so I called them. They showed up about 5 hours later. He was able to get the pilot light lit, but told me he didn't think it would last because the WH "was so old". He, of course, suggested I replace it. I asked him if there were any repairs that could keep it going since it was so close to the Holidays and money was tight. He advised it co... read more

Stay away. Unreasonable and unfair. The only mission they have is to get as much money as possible from you. I am surprised they are still in business (read other reviews). My guess is they are only surviving out there because somehow they are managing to get condo association contracts. They do typical plumbing work, just like any other plumber out there, but they will do everything to increase your bill and squeeze every dollar they can. And don't even think about calling them if you are in emergency. While typical plumb... read more

They came out & charged my condo association $475 just to take a look and give an estimate. Then they charged $2850 for what took them 2 hrs 45 minutes. Their work failed & was leaking again the next day!!!! I would stay away if I were you. Greedy Rip Off Artists.

Caution! Carefully read the reviews. Whenever there is a problem, owner Joe Capps inserts himself and the results aren't good. When my 3rd back-up sump pump went out after 9 months Capps told me is was caused by a power surge, without really knowing for sure. Then they wanted to charge me $180 to remove the defective pump just to see if it was under warranty. If you stupidly use Capps, better hope that there are no problems for Joe to get involved in.

STAY AWAY!!! Stuck my condo association with a bill for $995 for an hour and a half of work. They did not fix, let alone diagnose the problem. We had a previous visit from Capps, we were quoted a price over the phone, when the work was done, that price doubled to over $600 for an hour and a half of on-site work. They also left a big mess to clean up and stained my grout. We have recently done work with Ravinia Plumbing, technician David was great and prices were very reasonable. And he cleaned up his mess when he was done w... read more
